Fresh Eggs

Did you know the average age of a grocery store egg is about 60 days old by the time it makes it to you? Did you also know that the nutrient richness of your egg deteriorates each day? Thats all the more reason to eat fresh, local eggs!

Our chickens are free range, happy, and supplemented with fruits, veggies, and protein every day.

Eggs from the Dough Boys homestead can be purchased in whole dozen ($6) or half dozen ($4). Your eggs will come unwashed.

Freshly laid, unwashed eggs do not need to be refrigerated. This is because they are laid with what is called a "bloom" on them. The bloom is a protective coating that seals the egg and keeps bacteria out. You can store unwashed eggs on your counter at room temperature or in the refrigerator, but washed eggs must be refrigerated. Be sure to wash your eggs before consuming.

When you purchase eggs from us, your carton will come with care instructions, as well as your egg collection date.

I love a rainbow of egg colors so I keep a wide variety of chicken breeds, but my most favorite type of chicken is an easter egger. These cuties have puffy feathered cheeks and beards, and lay a light blue or mint green colored egg.

All hens that were born in 2022, my first gang of girls, were given herb and spice names (Rosemary, Sage, Cilantro, Basil, Marjoram, Ginger, Parsley etc.).

All of my 2023 hens have fruit names! (Peaches, Blueberry, Clementine, Strawberry, Blackberry, Pomegranate ... you get the idea!)

I am about to start hatching for 2024 so we will have to come up with a new name theme!

And because every chicken lady has to be a little bit crazy... my girls have their own Tik Tok page. If you want to see more of these ladies, follow along at @thedoughboyshomestead on Tik Tok.
